Privacy Policy
Introduction
StoryMine ("StoryMine", "we", "us") creates personalized keepsake picture books in which your child is the hero — illustrated to look like them on every page and, optionally, narrated in your own voice. Because making a book involves a photo of a child and, optionally, a voice sample, we treat this data with particular care. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it.
This is a consumer keepsake/gifting product operated by an independent studio. It is not a medical, educational-records, or government service.
Information We Collect

Account information — your name and email address when you create an account, used to manage your account, deliver your book, and provide support.

Child's photo (sensitive) — the reference photo you upload so we can illustrate your child as the story's hero. We use it only to generate your book.

Voice samples (sensitive, optional) — if you choose narration in your own voice, the 6–30 second audio sample you record or upload. We use it only to narrate your book.

Book content you create — the child's name, theme, story text, generated illustrations, narration audio, and your edits.

Order & shipping information — for printed hardcover orders, the recipient name and mailing address needed for fulfillment.

Payment information — processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card number on our servers.

Usage & device data — basic analytics (pages viewed, features used, device/browser type) to operate and improve the service.

Cookies — used for sign-in sessions and essential functionality. See "Cookies" below.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate, preview, and deliver your personalized book and narration.
- To process payments and fulfill printed hardcover orders.
- To provide customer support and send service emails (e.g. "your book is ready").
- To maintain security and improve the product.
We do not use your child's photo or your voice sample to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.
AI Processing and Third-Party Processors
Generating a book involves automated AI processing. We share the minimum data necessary with the following categories of processors, under confidentiality obligations:
- AI illustration & voice (self-hosted GPU service) — your child's photo and book text are processed by our own GPU backend to lock the character's face across pages (PuLID-FLUX / FLUX) and to clone your voice for narration (XTTS-v2). This runs on infrastructure we control, not a third-party consumer AI service.
- Story text generation — book text is generated via a large-language-model API (currently DeepSeek). Only the story prompt (child's name, theme) is sent — not your photo or voice.
- Storage — generated pages, audio, and exported PDFs are stored on Cloudflare R2.
- Database & hosting — account and order records are stored with our database provider (Supabase / Postgres) and hosting infrastructure.
- Payments — Stripe processes payments.
- Print-on-demand — for hardcover orders, your book file and shipping address are sent to our printing partner (e.g. Lulu / Gelato) to print and ship.
- Email — transactional emails are sent via our email provider (Resend).
Data Retention and Deletion
- Child's photo: deleted shortly after your book has been generated. It is not retained for ongoing use.
- Voice sample: deleted after your narration has been generated, unless you ask us to keep it on file to make additional books.
- Generated book, narration, and order records: kept so you can re-download and reorder, until you delete your book or account.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account and associated content at any time by contacting us. We will delete your personal data except where we must retain limited records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Children's Data
StoryMine is intended to be used by adults (parents, grandparents, gift-givers) who create books featuring a child. The account holder must be 18+. A child's photo and name are provided by the adult account holder, who is responsible for having the right to provide them. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts, and we do not build advertising profiles of children. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and core functionality, and limited analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break sign-in.
Data Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location (including the EU/UK and California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will post the updated version here with a new date.
