Ask what the child notices before you read the first sentence. Where might the hero go? Which detail feels familiar? There is no need to quiz them or look for one correct answer. Follow the picture they point to and let that curiosity open the story.
Pause at a useful moment
A puddle, a lost animal or a friend waiting at the gate gives you a natural place to pause. Ask what the hero might try next. Younger readers can name a color or object; older readers can suggest an action. Keep the conversation short enough that the story still moves.
Let narration support your reading
A catalog storyteller can read the authored page text in the unlocked book. Listen first, use a comfortable volume and pause whenever you want to talk about a picture. Narration is another way to read, not a requirement or a replacement for your conversation.
Return to the same saved book
Children may enjoy finding a detail again or retelling a favorite scene. Open the saved book from My books or download the completed PDF for later. If a download fails, retry it after the illustrations are available rather than accepting a copy with missing pictures.
Common questions
Do we have to finish in one sitting?
No. Stop at a comfortable moment and return to the saved book another time.
What if the child changes the story while reading?
You can enjoy their version aloud. For a different generated adventure, start with a new theme when you are ready.
